How a club of utds status hasn't got a wealth of emerging talent is beyond the beyond, even if lads don't make the very top grade and have to drop to other clubs, utd should have 4 or 5 promising youngsters vying for a spot and yet they have only Elanga.

I'd hate to know how this club is being mismanaged As for Martial, he might as well retire for all the good he is, but then again who is going to retire from a million a month job where you don't have to even work

They do have fair few talented kids mate - we won the youth cup last season in case you forgot.

Unfortunately, physically, the gap between reserve and under 21s football to the premier league is now absolutely massive. Putting a skinny under developed 19 year old kid into this premier league is like throwing a puppy into a pit bull fight. They get bullied and physically outdone by even the most average of players. These footballers are all built like super middleweight boxers now. This isn't the generation of boozers and cloggers that were about when the class of 92 came through.

Are you saying that three of the greatest players in the league and two who’d walk in to most teams during their careers only made it because the league was full of boozers and cloggers?

I take your point, but surely a club of utds size should have at least a few top quality lads in or around the top level. I know youth level is really no guide to future success, but it is unfathomable to me to think utd don't have 3 or 4 lads knocking on the door of the first team, homegrown or bought in.

The scouting and development system must be shocking, other lower type clubs have real prospects and the only starter we have is Elanga and utd end up waiting to see if Martial has broken a toe nail each week

I see what sparky is saying but think the league was actually more physical back then in that they could get away with some proper dirty tackles in comparison to the modern game. To me, a lot of the top teams rely less on being physical these days and more on being cute; the snide little clip tackles to break up play (mastered by Fernandinho). Think there’s also so much money involved now that the top teams now are also scared to play/rely on youth products coming through - why risk it if you can just buy the finished product.

Doesn’t help that the likes of Chelsea were buying up literally every promising youth player at one point.

And then we do produce someone good for once and he’s a sex pest.

So Sunday will be five games out of six that Martial has been unavailable for.

A whopping 45 mins played this season.

Still no need to lose our minds eh, we've got Rashford the weak and lazy headless chicken, and Ronaldo who's good for 30 min run-outs these days.

Should have replaced him in the summer but didn't. Might come to regret that.

Saying that, Martial in that side last night instead of Rashford and we score 3 or 4 easy.

Yet hag has sanctioned a new contract for the guy. Its clear he rates him above others. I will trust hag on this one.

Once his body becomes used to the new style of play he will improve this team so much.
