We’re a business that can’t achieve anything without the owners signing off on it, down to the payment terms. We’ve got no £#%&!ing chance.

We also pick the single most difficult deal to do.

We aren't in the conversation with City and Liverpool any more. They are so far ahead of us thanks to our decade long voyage of self destruction that anything they do is of little consequence to us.

Our major concerns will be Spurs, Arsenal and maybe West Ham. Those are the teams that are our rivals now - distinctly 2nd tier premier league sides.

In the short term.

It’s up to ETH to map out a blueprint to get back to the top 3 conversation under the parameters set out by the owners. As with every manager.

It’s sad, but it’s the same position Klopp started in.

Will be interesting to see how he gets on in such a technical side like City because I think he’s a bang average midfielder
The new Fabian Delph

This puts a bit of pressure on Barca if they want Silva.

Shows there really isn’t much out there from a DM pov I suppose.

He’s not even really a DM. Certainly not for England. More box to box with Rice sitting further back.

Eventually Gundogan’s replacement? Half the player.

He’s not as good as any of their midfielders. Just as Grealish isn’t as good as any of their forwards. Two very odd signings IMO. They’ll still blitz everyone and get close to 100 points, but it won’t be because of Kalvin Phillips.

odd. he's not as good as someone like Henderson and there must be stacks of European players who are miles better. Stones/Grealish/Phillips why the English players? Some tax thing?

(very) poor man's Paul Ince.

You say that but with City it's ALL about the system. Look at Grealish. All his natural inclinations have been completely curbed and he's now just another cog in this possession machine.

Philips will slot in as they all do because they are all on message and know exactly what they're doing. He'll come in, keep it simple, make some tactical fouls then give the ball to another blue shirt. He doesn't have to be Roy Keane. He'll be back up for Rodri.

I honestly thought they'd move for Declan Rice, but this makes much more sense for them and it's a 3rd of the price.

Can’t say I’m exactly envious of this one but you just know when they play against us, should he play he’ll look untouchable. Result of good coaching.

Home grown quota?

He’s decent enough for a back up and they can spend 50m on decent back ups.

Think he will play a lot more than people think.

Fernandinho has left so they have a spot for him.

Fernandinho hasn’t been first choice since Rodri got there. He’ll be challenging the likes of him and Gundogen for a place.
