He was bought for the 3 man midfield w/ Casemiro & Bruno. As clear from first fixture of season. As also clear from first fixture of season, the plan does not work so was quickly shredded.

There is a reason Mount was central to Tuchel’s Champions League winning side (playing 50+ games in a season 3 years consecutively). There’s a reason Klopp + ETH are strongly linked now. One would think City’s team of technical-runners who thrive with the right role in the right system without mostly being global superstars in their own right would have enlightened people .. apparently not. Mount’s exactly the kind of player Fergie would have gone in for .. the “meh”ers would have been saying the same about Carrick ..
“Some can spot a player, some cannot”

Indeed.

Yes, Mount's failure is an enormous black mark on the manager. He was central in a European Cup winning team, assisting the winner. He was sought after by the who's-who of top European mangers. He had more than 30 England caps by 23. He is clearly a good player.

There were questions marks raised, however, around how he would fit in this team.

Hence my first post on the subject ..

This is what the manager tried to do, playing Mount alongside Casemiro & Bruno. It was a dismal failure. As a result he has been discarded, and we find ourselves in a position whereby Bruno + Mount cannot play in the same 11.

In that context, an awful signing dropped into an absolutely awful system of football that flatters not one of the eleven players in it.

It’s pretty astounding the number of players he’s bought so far that he didn’t want.

Are you saying he was just told what players he was getting and he had to manage them? United should be right up his street.
