I think he would've wanted to play 3 in midfield today, so either Rooney or Berbs was going to drop out, Berbatov has been the more impressive so far this season, so the decision may have been a little easier.

Also prevents the game from being all about Rooney, canny from Fergie imo.

No rooney... dare I say fergie is afraid of the everton faithful abuse to rooney?
No, he's afraid Rooney might do a Cantona or get sent off I should imagine.

And he's thinking why put him through that if he doesn't absolutely have to, which i can understand. Fergie is all about protecting his players.

I'm pissed of that Rooney isn't playing because it significantly weakens our team. This is a very tough game & it's important we pick up 3pts, however Fergie is a £#%&!ing star for leaving him out - simply because it has destroyed the lives of every Evertonian, every sleazy tabloid hack, every salacious member of the media that has gathered at Goodison Park today. £#%&!ing @#%&!s.

Having said that, our midfield & 'attacking' flair is as poor as it has been for a very long time.
That's a very old & workmanlike team he's put out there today. So much for "having faith in the Youth"

He wanted to play O' Shea in midfield? That was his preference leading up to the game, had the Rooney shit happened or not?

This, it does away with this ridiculous side-show element so we can just worry about the game at hand.

Nah, probably wanted to play Carrick, Anderson or Hargreaves tbf, but hey ho.

I can't believe Moyes has preferred Fellaini and Cahill up front to Beckford and Yakubu

Either that or he died and the Glazers are pulling a Weekend At Bernies.

Berbatov can't play up front on his own though.
His movement isn't sharp or quick enough & his application isn't aggressive enough.

probably because, shock horror, they'll pump big long balls up to fellaini because he's seen how well bobby zamora gave our defenders the run around with a simple target man game?

Aside from the Rooney business, I'd have liked this team more had we gone with Park, not O' Shea tbh. Real headscratcher that selection.

Anyway, as I say, let's nick 3 points and £#%&! off home.

Not true at all, I'm afraid.

He plays the role in a different manner, but he does it very well.

John O'Shea is more than capable in midfield, and has put in several excellent performances in there over the years, in a 2 or 3. Including 1 or 2 in pre-season.
