United being shite has always brought out the best in Fred. Everything Marlo says is unarguable in my book but then I totes dig Bunk's positive vibe too. Now I don't know what to think. Need The Watcher back so I can pass off his opinion as my own IRL. |

There's a reason. The players are overtrained. Almost every team in the world does it, in fairness. It's a dinosaur mindset, and will take a long time to change. It is madness that players go through 6 weeks of preseason, training multiple times per day, and then begin a season in which they either train or play a game 6 days a week for more than nine months. But, that's how it's always been done...so every team just accepts a long injury list as 'bad luck', season after season. Luck doesn't actually work that way. It's a pretty simple fix, according to big Raymond Verhejjers: more complete days off, more 'competitive' training sessions replaced with technical/tactical (i.e. no tackling) sessions, and close monitoring of indicators of player fatigue, like stress hormone levels, flexibility and range of motion impairment, cognizance tests, etc, and then adjusting training intensity based on those indicators. But most managers just keep training players the way they themselves were trained as players, which was in the Dark Ages of sport science. |
