Nah, there's an written rule somewhere that United players shouldn't get it. '99 taught us that. Even Ronaldo should've had it before he did. Messi has got it nailed on every year unless there is a truly exceptional candidate that can't be ignored (and isn't English).

although ronaldo is doing incredibly well, he hasn't played too much. on a season's whole messi and rooney stand a better chance.

and better still is argentina and portugal are shit like england, so won't get an advantage over rooney. But world player of the year is very much dependent on champions league and world cup, less about league. if united and england do well (finals or semis at least), I think rooney will win it.
