He’s very basic, runs around a lot and makes tackles, then passes it simple. Unfortunately he’s in midfield on his own as The Scottish Player does nothing that a midfielder should do. He doesn’t win the ball, he doesn’t pass it well, he doesn’t track runners or find space. He’s pointless in there. Bruno is off doing Bruno things so there’s no point in even think of him as a midfielder.

That sums it all up perfectly.

Would rather have Mainoo and Hannibal in there.

He’s a Lidl version of Declan Rice basically

He’s been every bit as good as you’d expect from a loan signing from a mid table Italian club.

There comes a point where the faults of the likes of The Scottish Player or Martial is on the manager. He has alternatives.

Same with Dalot. Him blasting that shot into the side netting when he had Hojlund well placed is criminal, but also entirely unsurprising given Dalot is one of the dumbest players in the squad. He also has an alternative there too.

A lot of the players who are problems are not ETH’s, but he’s also picking a lot of them over his own signings.

Didn’t Martial do exactly what you thought he would? Ie, £#%&! all. Just like he did just seven days ago?

The Scottish Player did what The Scottish Player does.

but this.

at least, we should have three midfielders. he can't do the job of three players. no one can.

he's not world class; he's just a good player. but, even if he were world class, he still couldn't hold the midfield on his own.

I though h was at least one of our better players. Extremely low bar though. Wouldn't be in a rush to make his loan anything more than that.

I said in the match thread that The Scottish Player was the problem. If he hadn't scored goals recently he'd be nowhere near the team (you would hope).

We need to see more of Mainoo and Hannibal. Otherwise, what's the point.

Nobody can thrive in the job he is being asked to do. He was ok yesterday but I don't think he's of the right quality to be in the starting XI regularly.

He is. Like jem said though he needs help.

If Casemiro couldn't manage it on his own then amrabat won't be able to either.

Stevie £#%&!ing wonder can see playing The Scottish Player and bruno as 2 of the '3' is basically tactical suicide.

I like him but his touch is far too loose for this level. It's £#%&!ing insane that he was our only addition to the midfield in the summer.

Thought he was good too, stats back it up.

As usual though, our midfield is like a no man's land and whoever is the solitary DM is always exposed and overran.

Good stats but very basic. It’s an art to do the simple things well, except when the simple thing is to be ineffective in a 3-0 pasting. He can’t be blamed for McTog & Bruno’s genuinely embarrassing ball retention but it’s ETH’s fault for not putting Mainoo alongside him to at least share some of the workload / progressive passing.

4-2-3-1 is a shit formation.
