Missing piece of the jigsaw

Yep, said this last night. He's needed time to adapt and get used to the team and the pace and he had no pre-season whatsoever as he was waiting around for us to pull our fingers out.

He was Sue Perb. Will be crucial the rest of the season.

and he's expected to play midfield on his own.

Still looks a bit slow in thought & physicality but better.

Same as Antony that this is the minimum I'd like to see from them.

The pass where they got through & Mudryk hit the post was dogshit but it was a lot better than he's recently showed. Was starting to worry he was a genuine fraud.

Would look a lot better next to Mainoo (who in turn will be a lot better next to a fit & motivated Casemiro).

Wouldn't be too much of a stretch to rest Bruno at some point & play Amrabat, Mainoo & McTog ahead and hope they can create some semblance of a midfield that doesn't watch players stream past them repeatedly in a match.

I think they might be the better midfield to play away from home, but can’t see the manager resting Bruno. Thought he was distinctly average last night. Certainly doesn’t create enough for others as a 10.

Being hung out to dry without anyone to play with doesn't stop you making poor passes or looking slow. He at least got his legs pumping last night & was around the pitch a lot better, fair play to him. More please.

Don’t think he had a proper pre-season, and that has hindered him. Hopefully getting up to speed now.

Much better 2nd half, he was pretty poor first half.

It was a game in which both sides seemingly decided against trying to exert any midfield control, hence it being so open and back and forth. So not getting too carried away tbh, but it was definitely a start

leaving aside the lack of pre-season, the lack of midfield partners, the general poor form of the team and being jerked around at left back, etc.... it's still not his first decent game for us.

he's a decent player and not in any sense a fraud.

anyone who thinks he might probably is, though.

He’s not very good at doing the things he should be doing.

Every single ‘number 6’ we have needs someone next to them that they’ll never have, because ETH doesn’t play that way

Then we need proper quality ahead of the number 6, or ETH will have to go eventually, because we are getting overrun too easily.

I’m Erik in, but I can’t get on board with the insistence of playing one deep
Lying player. It makes it’s so easy to play. It relies heavily on the numbers 8 being very efficient in possession, and that’s never going to happen with Bruno, Mount and The Scottish Player.

As soon as a team breaks our initial press or we give the ball away high up the pitch, we’re in big trouble.
