Ultimately, this is a failing of the PL if Everton are making a statement like that.

There needs to be complete transparency between Club A, Club B and the PL, with the latter being the conduit between the two.

It needs to be clear what constitutes a match being called off.

Club B should be provided with physical proof of who has failed within Club A and when this occurred.

It appears the PL has failed to articulate fully the reasons behind the postponement and the background evidence to support it. This should be standard procedure. Failure to do so undermines confidence between clubs and supporters and calls into question the integrity of the league.
