You can only sign the most coveted MF in the game by lobbing wedge around. Barca and Real have been fluttering their eyes at him for years and we're in the driving seat despite no European Football. Also, if we bin this off and go in for Rakitic or Kroos...you don't think their price will be 65-80m in today's market?

well i think rakotic is one of the best around, and that he went 2 years ago for £20m or less.

kante cost £6m last summer and has just gone for £30m.

it's not all about the price tag. pogba is a #@&%!. he'd be a good player for united, maybe even a great one - while it was going his way. would he be better than either of those two players have been?

maybe not, but is Kante ever going to be capable of changing a game for you? He'll keep you in it...but he won't win it for you. Different players.

We lack dynamism and some balls in our midfield...like it or lump it the players in that mould that can change a game in a split second, will always come at a premium. You pay for that magic...and yes, you also have to suffer the ego a bit. At 23, we'd have him for his best years.

would rather go with mensah, perreira, rashford, tuanzebe (in some ways0...

not even convinced pogba is guaranteed to be effective in the role suggested for him in united's side. and actually thought he was a bit harshly criticised for his deeper role for france - thought he kept the ball moving well, showed some good vision and imagination in his choice of pass as well as range, and got forward when he could and looked dangerous. that to me is actually what we need but he needs to be able to read the game better and put the work in, which i don't think he did well enough at the euros...

basically £100m on him still leaves us needing another midfielder unless his role is adjusted or unless maybe schneiderlin and him could be a partnership...
