I would give quite a lot of important things for it to be Kevin Keegan.

The last time they won the league they gave the job to a Liverpool legend at the end of his playing career. Please give it to Fowler. I'd love nothing more than to see the fans screaming for him to get the sack when they do absolutely £#%&! all again.

I said before the game we were in a win-win. If we'd won he'd probably be gone now. We lost and that might just keep him at Liverpool for a while longer.

SHOULD it all go poire-shaped for Liverpool in Lyon on Wednesday, the clamour for Rafa Benitez's removal will reach a crescendo.

But who, at this stage of the season, could they possibly replace him with?
As one of their most celebrated ex-players told me the other day: "He's already there - Kenny Dalglish."
Dalglish, the last manager to win the title at Anfield in 1990, returned to the club in July in a senior capacity at the Liverpool Academy doubled with an ambassadorial role.
He is the one man who could unify the club and placate the voices of dissent after Benitez's side lost their sixth game in seven at Fulham on Saturday.
Yes, Dalglish is 58 but Bob Paisley didn't succeed Bill Shankly until he was 55 while Sir Matt Busby returned in a caretaker role at 61 when Manchester United sacked Wilf McGuinness in 1970.
Meanwhile, Alex Ferguson is still going strong at 67 while Arsene Wenger, Harry Redknapp and Roy Hodgson are all in their sixties.
Should the Anfield hierarchy decide the club has gone as far as it can under Benitez, then Dalglish could take them to the summer when various large carrots could be dangled in front of Jose Mourinho.
Mourinho was linked with Liverpool, a club whose history and tradition appeals hugely to a man who operates on a high, emotional level, even before he transformed Chelsea.
Yes, Mourinho has been touted as a replacement for under-fire Manuel Pellegrini at Real Madrid but, like Wenger, prefers to run things his way - and in total control, something managers have found impossible at the Bernabeu.
Liverpool's performance - or non- performance - at Fulham is the greatest indictment yet of Benitez's management and the character within the side.
It says everything you need to know that Liverpool could get themselves up for United and then slump at Fulham.
And, once again, we saw Benitez sub his best players - Fernando Torres off in the 63rd minute at 1-1 and Yossi Benayoun hooked at 2-1 with 12 minutes left.
The time is rapidly approaching when Liverpool have to realise they can no longer be contenders with the current squad.
Every Anfield boss has a shelf life and, after five years and £225 million on over 70 players, Benitez's Mersey career is drawing to a close. Of course, he hasn't been helped by injuries - even the club doctor doesn't know if Steven Gerrard can be patched up and sent out against Lyon in the Champions League.
Then, again, Fulham were without Andy Johnson, Simon Davies and Danny Murphy and were still good enough to stick three past Pepe Reina.
Still Benitez maintained how much Liverpool were in control in the first half and how much possession they enjoyed.
Except they did nothing with it, mostly moving the ball sideways and rarely troubling Fulham keeper Mark Schwarzer.
No, Liverpool look gripped by fear against ostensibly lesser opposition (except they no longer are) - a situation hardly likely to improve in Wednesday's Lyon clash.
So Dalglish is there, waiting. Last time, he left due to mounting pressure on him and his family.
But his love for the club is such he will find it hard to resist should Liverpool turn to him in their hour of need.

Injuries ffs. They get Gerrard out and they're 'decimated', Torres out and it's 'injury disaster for Benitez'.
