I think in Mourinho’s case the two were closely correlated.

Our players are just not good enough Sparky, and while we can blame the Glazers and Woodward, the truth is that our previous two managers spent a lot of money very poorly. Solskjaer’s job is to not only build for the future, but unravel the mistakes of the past. If we don’t have the stomach for the length and dips it’s going to take then we’re £#%&!ed.

Can you really look at us, our squad, and not see a moment in a year or 18 months where we’re all screaming for Pochettino’s head? “Bloke’s never won a trophy etc etc”

And he never managed to parlay any of that into any feeling that we were on the right track long term. The football was drab and uninspiring, he was constantly at odds with everyone and his signings were largely poor.

It’s not all his fault, it isn’t. This place can be very polarising; it’s either totally this way or totally that way, no middle ground. I have a bit of sympathy for Mou - and van Gaal truth be told- but the man did himself no favours.
