It’s shit, but it’s the best we’re going to get. Initially, we were excited about the prospect of a full sale and we’re arguing over who. The longer it went on and the more they (reportedly) starting knocking back bids north of £4bn, it was clear they were never willing sellers.

The grow of the Saudi league and the potential Super League stuff is too appealing to them.

The ideal scenario disappeared long ago imo.

They were £#%&!ed and needed investment and they’ve got it. Nobody was ever going to just hand them a billion quid. Their compromise is relinquishing footballing control, but they won’t care about that. They’ve never cared about that. As long as Ratcliffe keeps the money rolling in and the value of the club goes up and up, they won’t give a shit who decides on a director of football

As fans, we just have to hope we have a rich person making football decisions who actually cares about football.

It’s a huge undertaking and it’s going to take £#%&!ing ages to sort it all out

My concern is that it has the potential to be a massive cluster£#%&!, with nothing being communicated to the fans. Nobody knowing who is supposed to be doing what.

Not only is it imperative to get Ratcliffe in and announced asap, but there also has to be some serious clarity on how it all works and what the plan is in the future.

I can see them making some two paragraph formal announcement about 25% and prioritising success and that’ll be it.

They’ve played a blinder

Found a scruffy patsy to keep them in the game until the serious riches arrive

If that arrives sooner they’ll even bin the patsy off… hence the delay

Nothings crumbling until some poor bastard from the CIAC thread spends their last days in Florida taking advantage of the second amendment

We don’t want that though

We don’t need a saviour
We just need to go from being the dumbest money in football to being a smartly run football operation

The money has been there (despite what some say) since Fergie retired as we’re always if not top then near top of the list for transfer net spend and total wages but literally billions has been pissed up the wall because of the utter clown show we’ve had running things

If we’re just run smartly then with our resources will soon be competing for the highest honours again

Who knows if Ratcliffe will provide this but the indications are we’re finally going to go with a proper modern football structure and see the end of the jobs for the boys culture at the club
We’ve just got to hope it works otherwise we might go longer than 26 years this time

FT

Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s push to purchase a $1.3bn stake in Manchester United has been hampered by concerns over the future treatment of minority shareholders, contributing to weeks of delays to football’s highest-profile transaction, according to two people with knowledge of the matter.

The British chemicals billionaire and the Glazer family that owns the English Premier League club had agreed on the broad terms to buy a non-controlling stake in November, but a formal announcement has been repeatedly pushed back.

One of the obstacles has been how United’s public shareholders would be treated in any future transactions between Ratcliffe and the Glazers, according to people familiar with the matter.

The hold-up can be partly attributed to concerns held by certain members of Manchester United’s 12-person board about potential future deals and whether they would allow the Glazers to cash out on terms that would not be extended to other shareholders.

However, people involved in the process remain confident of finding a solution, with talks focused on resolving the matter under way in recent weeks. The Ratcliffe team is also confident of getting a deal done. An announcement could be imminent but might slip to after Christmas, two people with knowledge of the situation said.

The situation is complicated because United has two classes of stock. The New York-traded A shares have inferior voting rights to the B shares held exclusively by the Glazers.

UK fund manager Lindsell Train, Ricky Sandler’s Eminence Capital and Chicago-based Ariel Investments are among the biggest holders of the A shares, which are largely held by non-family shareholders. Hedge fund billionaire Leon Cooperman has also accumulated a stake. Sandler has previously threatened to oppose any deal that treats minority shareholders differently from the Glazers.

Ratcliffe and his Ineos group are set to acquire around 25 per cent of the Glazers’ super-voting B shares and 25 per cent of the New York-traded A shares. Each B share has 10 times the voting rights of a single A share.

Ratcliffe is financial life support for the Glazer's so they can both extract the profits from future changes to competition structures and tv rights whilst keeping investment in the club to the minimum.

Which is why I want their team out of the European places and ideally relegated.

Yes, we will have to pay about 25% more on our loan deals,, and the incoming carthorses’ salaries.

Reports that it’s take 6-8 weeks to go through the process of Premier League ok’ing it, so January likely to be the same.

Frankly, I’d rather we didn’t leap into any more daft transfer business until we sort ‘upstairs’ out

150 million investment in old Trafford .

Even if you put all that aside and they don’t invest in the infrastructure. If the glazers are still there the debt is still there and the glazers will still siphon off their cash.

I hope he can come in and change things. But he has a minority stake. What happens if there’s a clash?

Announcing it on Xmas eve so they don’t have to immediately have a press conference too. Cowards
