Don’t disagree about the asset value of players v managers. This has been the case for decades pal. If not forever.
I agree that we can't get 'any' manager, but we're not incapable of attracting managers with the ability to get us back to the top under different circumstances (owners). But as 92'rs said, ones of the problems is the value of the manager is so far lower than the players value that he's the first to go, not the players. So the players never have anything to worry about. Not to mention fans will happily lay the blame for players failings on the feet of a manager instead. So the guy at the top will get all the blame and he will lose his job, the players will carry on picking up their million quid contracts feeling vindicated that their poor performances are down to the manager rather than themselves.

Pretty sure Fergie had a philosophy that out of the players and the manager, the manager should be the highest paid and the most valued. Of course he would think that...

But it makes sense, because if the club putting the manager in charge of the players doesn't value him as much as they value the majority of the players in the squad, you can't really expect the players in the squad to value him either.

Simeone would have a field day with this lot.

I’ve personally made my bed. I will always support them , watch every game and want them to win. Only now when we lose or draw I don’t care . Because I know that’s what we are now. The board and owners don’t care and neither do the players. It’s hard to get invested and behind a team that isn’t even invested in by themselves
A moment of clarity - Anyone with an emotional attachment to the glazer business is delusional.

I think it was MaClaren who first talked about the problems involved in motivating very wealthy young players. Some players are intrinsically motivated others not.

We need players who have a hunger and desire to play for the club and are good enough. Brandon Williams when he played was incredibly motivated and absolutely bust a gut trying as does The Scottish Player. Coming up through the ranks is for some hugely motivating but what happens when it wears off as it seems to have done with Rashford?

You could sense the excitement amongst the kids who played against Young Boys - running out to play a European tie at Old Trafford. We somehow need to find players who crave that.

We are not alone Spurs and Arsenal are in a similar mess with lots of cba players. Number one priority should be a young top class midfielder who we make club captain who leads the team and takes no prisoners.

Decimating the squad is an absolute must even if we spend next season mid table. Rebuilding through gradual replacement has been a disaster.

Owners won’t allow it.

Been saying it for years. Mou was getting ridiculed on here for wanting his own players in but getting Woowoo shit@#%&!s who didn’t fit instead. He pointed out the culprits and they’re still here.

Same with Ole. The modern McGuinness. “Clueless”.
Never had a chance. Thought he’d be ok if he played Mr Nice.

Get used to it.

I think you're being a bit harsh on Ole, given who he got rid of.

We also know that the Glazers have their favourites who it appears we aren't allowed to dispose of. Until they detach ownership from football management and accept that ownership stops at allowing the commercial arm to support the footballing arm and the cash will snowball, we're stuck and may as well behave as apathetically towards the club as half the playing staff do.

Until fans are prepared to vote with their feet and not attend games, we're stuck in the same rut we've found ourselves in for a while now.

They could mobilise to all pick one game not to attend. Actually, no, they couldn't.

They couldn’t even stay away for that £#%&!ing Fulham game last season. That was a real gut punch after the impact of the protests.
