Is this a hypothetical Tevez and Torres double whammy? Or was it one or the other?

Torres would've been fantastic with United on the rampage. But against the massed defences we usually face I'm not so sure.

The way United play has enabled Ronaldo to score 30 goals and counting so far, as well as leading to our 3 popularly recognised goalscorers netting 33 between them. All this obsessing over the need for a striker conveniently ignores that.

The midfield have started to chip in lately, and whether or not they carry that on, along with a few from the defenders, will probably prove the decisive factor in some of the tight games coming up. Our brilliant attack is not the problem - far from it, in fact.

torres doesn't score when his team are on the rampage. he's a good get-out option up front on his own. a bit of a turbo-donkey is what we need. and, against packed defences, he has more chance in the air than rooney or tevez. oh, god... I don't even want to think about the headers tevez has missed this season even when unmarked!

there is nothing in the way we would play with a centre-forward that would stop ronaldo scoring. with someone in the middle who could win and hold up the ball, ronaldo would be running onto a lot. torres is quick enough to move around up front too and not just to be a target man.

a young andy cole would be perfect, of course.

Isnt it £8m for 50% ownership?
