Don’t think I’ve ever read so much sense in a thread about a player

It was bound to happen sometime. He's kept United from mid-table obscurity for years. That a goalkeeper here should get player of the season for 4 or 5 years ought to have set alarm bells ringing right around the club, but it didn't.

Instead we got a couple of Tesco value range centre backs in to help out the 2 reserve ones that Fergie left us with. We took a one legged right winger and made him right back then, when he got too old and lazy, we replaced him with another winger who was incapable of holding down a spot in the team at his own position because he was dreadful.

We put a series of centre halfs at left back, then a right back, then the right winger before, out of absolute necessity, giving Shaw a couple of games.

It's a shambles. And now we are talking about letting the man, who was derided for years as only at the club to put out the cones at training, become our technical director. AND the midfielder who was the bangest of bang average midfielders at the club in the good times, the one who could do most things ok but nothing brilliantly like the others in the squad, we are going to give him a job recruiting players.

If you were writing a comedy about a football club, it would look a lot like this.

De gea is terrible at the minute, but form is temporary and class is permanent. He will be great again next season. Unfortunately for us, it won't be while playing behind no-hopers like Jones, Smalling and Lingard, has-beens like Young and Matic, or lazy overpaid wasters like Pogba, Martial, Sanchez and Lukaku.

I would put Romero in, its obvious that DegEa is shot to pieces at the moment. Send him on holiday and hopefully he will come back and sign his contract. Sometime splayers need an arm around them and he has been a great player for us.

But apart from that we’re in tip top shape.

He's definitely just off form, it's just that it accentuates the weaker parts of his game, like that £#%&!ing second goal at Wolves for instance.

He had a traumatic WC followed by a tumultuous season, probably needs a bloody good holiday.

Seamus knows.

Big Serg is in the top five keepers in the country and doesn't even get a game.

Will step up in the summer, nqat.

Thumbs down

Tired. Needs a holiday. Deserves better than us.

It’s a bloody shame we messed up his Real move but PSG is definitely on.

Breaks my heart to see him like this.

No way I'd be giving this goaty mess a 5-year deal on silly money.

Ed will though.

Doesn't seem like Ed is giving him anything at the moment.

Shame.

Just going through a bad patch. It happens. Happened Schmeichel often enough

I'd argue that Schmeichel didn't have a season like this. Perhaps his last one had the most mistakes. But then it was his last one.

He hasn't been that bad for most of the season. Maybe by his own shot stopping standards perhaps but, no one is reaching them. Only really in the last two months his form has dropped imo

Schmeichel went through a phrase in 1996. He was immense against Liverpool at home and then he went through a 5 or 6 week nightmare.

Seemed to be getting chipped from 20 yards every week at that time.
