never really liked headers and volleys.it was always seen as a 'white boy game'

the tops played wembley singles(or old trafford singles as you lot would have called it) starting with about 15 people.

the silky skilled kids would be out there dribbling round everyone while the smarter players would goal hang in the early rounds.

the later rounds were intense and the last player through would hate having to play again just after and exhausting last round!

with my strength, pace and power and silky skills i was always in the semis or finals.

hated wembley doubles.especially if you have to carry your partner!

We didn't allow either.
This is what I said to my brother and was always my interpretation.

A volley no bounce.
A half volley as it touches the ground.

We also use to always play 1 man/2 man.

We had some brilliant games.

Like you'd always say there would always be one or two @#%&!s goal hanging, and also a one or two would stand at the back so every time the goalie kicked it out they would get the ball.

don't know why its even being debated.

it was definately a half volley.
but I might add that not all 'one bounce and hits' are a half volley.

my view from being when I used to play football was that its a half volley if you hit it on its way back up from the bounce...not on its way down again..if that makes sense!

they would always be in the last few as they would spend all their time pointlessly dribbling far from goal

i hated the smug @#%&!s who were through first and would be having a drink on the side or chatting to the 'girls' who came to watch.
also hated 'corrupt' keepers who would throw it in their mates direction.

It's worse in real life - my singing to her last night of 'Baby's got blue eyes' ended up a full length version of 'Tesco's got mince pies, Holland's makes meat pies, Sociology grads serve French Fries' etc. etc.

Keeper had to turn around and throw it with his back to play.

Must admit, I used to goal hang in the earlier rounds. You'd be stupid not to.

We also used to play a rule where if one player was fouled, every team got a penalty (apart from the team who fouled). Don't think I've ever missed a penalty so it was always an easy path to the next round

I was shit hot at doubles

I once got suspended from school for leathering a said corrupt keeper after I lost in the final to such a travesty, memorably starting off my assault with a Cantona kung-£#%&!ick

There were plenty who used this reasoning, some who even claimed a volley as long as the ball wasn't touching the ground at moment of striking.

Both %@#$&!s. The top one is the correct definition.

Anybody used to play H&V or 60 seconds with a tennis ball?? Tough as £#%&!.
