Walking out of the ground I remember seeing 3 Dutch coppers twirling their anti-riot batons round singing 'Glory, Glory Man United', each accompanied by police dogs wearing United scarves. It was that kind of day.

The train back to the Dam after the match was unbelievable. They kept us on the platform on arrival at Amsterdam and about 800 reds started whistling 'Always Look On The Brightside Of Life'. The noise, echoing round the station was deafening. The doors were opened after about 5mins and we were let out onto the streets. Remember my old man saying 'it's like they'd released a champagne cork'.

Fantastic times.

like the stupid @#%&! I am, I agreed to leave the travel arrangements to dave from stretford - ended up 4 of us going on a £#%&!ing official club coach

met at OT - the coach was full of @#%&!s slightly more motivated than david charlton - and off we set

we had only just gone past hilton park services, when dave decided to open the packed lunch his wife had made for him. Egg Butties. It was decided that these egg butties would be shoved down daves trousers, and the fun began His cries of "£#%&! off you @#%&!s, someones just put a finger up my arse" was not received well by our travelling companions, and we were warned by the coach steward that we would be ejected if it continued.

got piss wet through during the match, one of the lads with us got that nervous after they pulled it back to 2-1 he went and sat in the concourse and didnt watch the last 15 minutes or so.

great scenes at the final whistle - I remember thinking it was great to see us win a euro final, but it would never happen again with this team.....on the way out bumped into 2 lads I used to go to school with, they invited all 4 of us to come to the Dam and bunk into their hotel room.....I had a one year old kid at home so declined, the other 2 accepted, leaving me to face a £#%&!ing long coach journey with dave from stretford, who was wearing a big £#%&!ing yellow waterproof poncho.

got home about 4pm on the thurdsay, piss wet through, put my one year old in his trolley and went straight out to watch the parade which passed along chester rd, about half a mile from our house

great couple of days

Yes it does i have my programme and ticket somewhere to.

I remember it pissed down. I was sat in the upper tier next to Paddy Crerand. After the game all the coaches were in a £#%&!ing big long line. I couldnt find my coach to get back to the airport so I ended up in a taxi to the train station with some Dutch lads. Made check in with about 15 minutes to spare.

Oh sit down Oh sit down

Its the shots of Sir Matt at THAT game v Blackburn that always get me

He knew that United was in safe hands, finally - and could die happy

(and yes, the fact that Nou Camp '99 was his 90th birthday always struck me as more than mere coincidence)
