Re: What does the Derby mean to you?
Coming from Salford I never really got the chance to meet any City fans.
But I can say, without fear of contraception, that this always has been and always will be the biggest game for t'locals. Defeat and the aftermath does not bear thinking about. |

Re: What does the Derby mean to you?
Word.
I'm from Bury which comprises probably 45% City fans 54% United fans and 1% Bury fans. Most of my in-laws are Moston escapees and are generally blue noses. My mates are more or less split half and half between the two clubs and we've all been going to United/City since the late 70's early 80's. I £#%&!ing hate them. I hate City. Hate them. And if you've been involved in the two clubs for any length of time, you'll be aware of the long running off the field history between the two sets of fans. Grey Parrot days for those that remember And it saddens me that it doesn't mean more to more United fans. |

If they beat us on Sunday which is very possible, then i'd be more upset about it being a big blow to our title hopes(home game) than worrying too much about a City fan "mocking" me. City fans in reality shouldnt mock anyone, they'll always be a joke. If we lose, I hope you all stand up for yourselves like men. |

Re: What does the Derby mean to you?
a big game but still behind liverpool though. our past few years form hasnt helped as we have lost a few times which is like winning a trophy for the whole season to those blue @#%&!s. things this year are maybe a bit different with all their money and tevez etc. probably means more to them than it does us but still a big thing as now their all crawling out from the woodwork across manchester, never seen as many idiots walking around with blue shirts on and they are now generally getting more giddy and annoying than ever

Man Utd's Ferdinand insists Man City rivalry over-rated
Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand insists the rivalry with Manchester City is overblown. He told The Sun: "The fact Carlos Tevez went to City speaks volumes about the rivalries between Manchester United and both Manchester City and Liverpool. "Carlos said he wanted to respect the fans by not joining Liverpool. "But he thought it was OK to then join City. That just shows what the biggest rivalry really is." |

Re: What does the Derby mean to you?
This is the biggest Derby of my life time. For me, this season the Derby games are as big as the Liverpool ones. The Berties have been giving it the big one and genuinely believe they are better than us and keep going on about how much money they have. Usually when we beat them we're expected to so it doesn't have the same thing as beating Liverpool. However this season is different, if we beat them I'll be gloating to the Berties I know, I know what their response will be though "we don't expect much this season" the lying £#%&!in #@&%!s. Then a week later when they beat someone shit they'll be larging it up again. I don't think they'll enjoy all reds gloating and treating it like we have won a huge match if we win.

Re: What does the Derby mean to you?
I live, work, grew up in and socialise in and around Manchester but the Liverpool game is bigger for me, always has been. Thats mainly because despite me being in my mid-30's City have never been a threat trophies wise. They might get the odd derby win but thats been their lot since I was 2 years old. That might change now but for me the Liverpool games are the first ones I look for when the fixtures come out.

Re: What does the Derby mean to you?
coming from Burnage which was predominantly blue the derby was and still is the biggest games of the season, the build up was immense with reports and interviews from ex players in the MEN, Granda reports/look North West with the big one being 'Kick off' with elton welsby and Gerald Sinstadt on a Friday evening.......boozers in the area were opened early and the banter was the finest with the odd punch up thrown in for good measure. I would love going in the pubs in and around Hulme, Moss Side and Rusholme when we played at Maine Road.
The atmosphere and build up is more sterile these days but the result still remains the same. I £#%&!ing hate city maybe more than the scousers |
