True. But they are a weird bunch too. Most people already blame the club /board and players. Citing corruption and bullshit tends to come before that

That was never the case when we were shit last time; I loved Robson, Whiteside, McGrath etc…nobody could question their commitment (even after a skinful).

We’re just horrible at the moment, not just the football but the club.
Pretty much this.

I find it hard to understand if it's just because we're shit that it makes me negative about all things club related or if the club really is as crap as it feels.

90% of the players come across as massive @#%&!s, the club is clearly over commercialised, I hate all the fan TV bullshit that surrounds football, I hate the official club Tik Tok bantz. Football (and more so United) feels shit. I couldn't imagine I'd have felt like this 10 years ago.

I absolutely agree with this.

I used to adore players like Robson, Hughes, steve bruce. (remember that season where bruce scored 20 goals?)

Anyway, maybe it was my youthful 9 year old naivety but in my now 40 something cynicism i don't think i've ever felt as far removed from football as i do now.

It probably wouldn't be so bad if United weren't a £#%&!ing monument as to how not to run a big football club. A stinking great corporate shrine to everything shite about vulture capitalism.

It drains the hope from you.

Yep.

And I know we've been through it a million times but it all just shows what a genius Ferguson was. Not just reaching that level but maintaining it over several decades with relentless energy was absolutely £#%&!ing mental.

I’m 100% on this bus. Would love to see us go down from this point. Is the only way I can see us getting rid of them. Could a part fan owned model then be developed.

Just merge with FC United and start from there...

If we're at Rock Bottom now, then The People's Elbow is probably going to hit us around mid-March.

Athletico Away - 23rd Feb
Man City Away - 6th March
Spurs Home - 12th March
Athletico Home - 15th March
Liverpool Away - 20th March

The rot had set in with the corporatisation of football, of which utd was one of the leading exponents. MUFC died on its arse the day an American family with no money 'bought' the club, aided and abetted by sir fraggle.

The marketing & finance business formally known as MUFC has indeed hit the bottom, but I've no doubt they have the ability to keep digging, disgusting us all anew.

Not much more I could add.

The day the Glazer takeover deal went through was when it started, but the demeanour and palpable attitude of entitlement that is rampant in our current squad has left me totally disenchanted. It's not just United, but the entire upper echelons of the sport. Money's killing it.

It started way before that and utd were one of the architects of the monetisation of the game of which the glazers were a symptom of the disease, not the cause.

We are miles off Rock Bottom, there's stil pletny of cash for the Gimps to suck out of us before they're finished and we can start to rebuild.

I remember very cleary this being seaid by Woodward

Quote:
"The reality is that you can't always win.
"Take Liverpool. They still sell an incredible number of shirts and have the second biggest shirt deal in the Premier League.
"They have one of the biggest technical partner deals - and they haven't won the league since 1990. And you can put the last bit underlined and in capitals.
That clear as day set out what the priority was, the priority hasn't changed. As long as there is stil TV money and still muppets buying shirts, then the Gimps wil be here. And if they are here, with their agenda, then we will remain mediorce. We'll spend the next decade challenging for top 4 and competing in the Europa league, maybe by sheer good luck scab a Cup win.

From a general support point of view, agree with this. Other than the 'watching us last time we were shit' bit, because I was barely alive then.

We've always been a United family (on my dads side), and we both followed Chorley as well on the side. But after the takeover my dad started drifting away from United and spent more of this time watching and following Chorley. After about a few years his level of support for both clubs had done a complete 180. He still follows United and will watch any games if it's convenient, but otherwise he doesn't really care. He'd much rather plan an away trip on the train to watch Chorley away instead.

I was borderline at the same point a few years ago, but like I said before and to the absolute disgust of some, when we hired Ole as manager it added another dimension to the club for me. Winning and losing meant a bit more. Now we're back to square one and it's difficult to muster up the energy to care about the club anymore.

it was clear from the moment they built a stake. and also clear that the only way to get the club back was to make it worth what we could afford, not to try to find the funds for what it was worth. the way things are, the only people who could afford to buy united are other kleptocrats.

I tend to agree with this.
They balloon around whoring us out to noodle partners & tractor makers, but are happy to tell everyone they are only picking the "low hanging fruit" about this.
As long as there is a dollar to be made out of Manchester United these parasites aren't letting go.

Its worth around 3-4 billion quid.
It got a £#%&!ing long way to fall before these @#%&!s go and they wont, until they have drained every last cent out of it and all that is left is the dried up husk of a once great sporting institution.

Forget the oil clubs.
This is the greatest crime of the modern football era and the Premier League & Fergie et al are all complicit in allowing it to happen.

This, along with what happened to Wimbledon, stand out a mile.

A fair point. I remember my old PE teacher predicting exactly what would happen. Leeches left, right and centre have sucked the enjoyment out of the sport for me, which has now become a product.
