This has never felt on and is just too convoluted to continue. We’re well into the season now, we’ve signed two midfielders who elevate our squad and there’s still work to be done on other areas with a limited budget. Time to walk away.

Would this mean that Barca wouldn't have to pay the outstanding salary yet ?

It would reduce it, as we’d be paying the next 12 months at the contracted rate, so the amount ‘owed’ would come down to €10m and as his contract is still intact, the €10m would still technically be in years 4 & 5, so wouldn’t be due until the obligation was taken up.

The only question would be the fee and if Barca need it this year.

Glad we’ve got such an expert on De Jong’s contract on here.

It’s common knowledge pal. Can’t expect you to be able grasp it though.

The money they call ‘deferred wage’ is wrapped in pay rises though years 3, 4 and 5. If he was sold this summer, that money is, in FDJ’s opinion, due before the contract can be cancelled, Barca don’t agree and are trying all sorts of squirming to get out of paying it,, if he stays he gets the rises as per the contract and gets the money. If he goes on loan and remains contracted, as long as the club taking him on loan cover the wages, it reduces the amount due in the event of the contract being broken. Savvy? It’s really not that difficult to understand.

The question is if Barca just need him off the books or if they need the transfer fee too.

The other questions would be; are United smart enough to offer such a deal? Will FDJ come to a CL free club

Not a surprise. But given that Casemiro is a very different type of player, strategically it makes no sense.

They want £50m apparently and he wants ridiculous wages, which is why he’s not signed for Arsenal yet.

What's with the negativity? We are not even at page 150 yet. It may be the drugs by I still think this can happen, ETH demands and Murtough delivers (this may not be true)
