Re Pea, he does get flagged offside a fair bit but regarding today he also made a lot of very good runs that were crying out for a smart first time ball but don't think any of them even bothered playing it, or could even do it. Probably underlines why in the Summer a midfielder or two needed to be brought in. A Sneijder sort and another who had the ability to put their foot in.

It's all well and good having strength in the wide areas, which Utd do have, but when play is forced through the middle we also need the players with the ability and the confidence to play a pass outside of their comfort zone. To try something different and be able to execute it as well rather than just @#%&! it out for a goal kick.

Games like today have been commonplace in recent seasons. Hard working teams deny space behind them and play on the counter. For all the hard luck Norwich stories tomorrow I'll just say tough shit, should have finished better. Them the breaks. Hoever what it again underlines is something Fergie has not or does not want to address and that's the lack of a creative spark, and composure, in the middle when things are tough and when it needs that little bit extra. Or just someone to put their foot on the ball and take their time.

Jones impressed, again, and Wellbeck is doing himself no harm in justifying a start alongside Rooney against the Vermin. His game has come on a lot in 12 months, really pleasing to see.

No, those are all fair comment.

We *were* poor today, and certain players are clearly not cutting it right now, for whatever reason(s).......

That doesn't justify some of the current weeping and wailing

Oh, and Maggers - we won't be buying anybody big in January, so get used to it

I'm not arsed.

Someone small like Banega would do me tbh.

Almost every game he plays, I can't help superimposing Barcelona's midfield over whoever we are playing and imagining what would happen, and it's never pleasant. If spawny wins over Norwich at home are what we aspire to then fine, but if we hope to take that next step from CL runners up to winners, then we will not do it with the central midfield personnel that were out there today, end of.

Fergie is leaving Carrick and Giggs out of the team at the moment, maybe because he feels that neither are the way forward anymore, he's probably right, but the truth is that both would have done a better job today. You cannot have a central midfield pairing who constantly give the ball away, don't track runners and afford the back four no protection, especially given the personnel issues we have back there.

If Carrick is not the way forward then fine, but don't £#%&!ing leave him out for someone who does an even poorer job! If Giggs is too old then fine, but play the £#%&!ing guy until you have someone better!

Maybe the way forward is Cleverley, maybe it was Sneijder. Maybe it's Pogba, maybe Di Rossi, I don't know. I can say for damn sure however, that it's not £#%&!ing Anderson and Fletcher.
He's the only one going forwards. He needs a mobile and technical player in there with him. Especially if he's in a 2.

And.. you know, he did manage to score today. He's actually started scoring. How about calming that jerking knee and seeing how he does in a settled 1st choice midfield before you shit your knickers?

Cant help think that a creative nasri type would have been nice as well as Scott Parker. tin hat etc.

but parker would probably play 25 games for us this season.

Actually, grinchers makes a fair point. Anderson increases his worth considerably now he is getting the odd goal

The speed of our play is what concerns me, fletchers passing is so £#%&!ing slow every time we go forward the passing got slower and slower giving Norwich time to recover. Carrick does the same slow £#%&!ing passing.

we've been fantastic at times and we've been poor at times. we need to find some consistency, which will be helped by having players back from injury, but up and down form is to be expected to a degree with a young team.

this 'as soon as we play a decent team we'll...' line is bizarre. we've played city (in a game they certainly didn't treat as a friendly), chelsea, arsenal, spurs and benfica so far already. we've looked shaky at times defensively but we've also looked magnificent going forward.

Get vidic back now. Is really all we need. Defence is the problem at the minute not so much the midfield. You can make a case of people walking through our midfield but at OT people are going to walk through on the counter most of the time, but our defence should be mopping up much earlier. Proper head shake when Evans got completely bullied as usual with the long ball in the second half.
