"Manchester United may attempt to use Jesse Lingard as part of a deal for Harry Kane" according to The Times.

It’s definitely an Ed thing to do, isn’t it? While someone else comes in and gets the deal done with a serious offer.

We’ll end up with Dier and Alderweireld

Levy: No, 100 million

Ed: Would you take 50 million and instead of kane you give us gary mabbutt?

Levy: Deal

I just don't see Guardiola wanting him. He HATES actual strikers. Lewandowski being the only exception.

Aguero has only lasted so long under him because he's 5 ft 2

He's City bound imo.

They need a striker and after all is said and done he'd be quite a lot cheaper than Haaland, and they won't have to deal with the shitbag either.

Also he'd suit City perfectly, he leads the line but also likes to come deeper and get involed in creating goals. He'd fit right into that team.

He's not coming to us.

At least we have Cavani for another year.

We should be going all out to sign him but we won't be signing him and Sancho in the same summer.

Cavani signing up is a pretty strong indicator that we won’t be signing a number 9 IMO.

Sancho is a ‘forward’ so will provide a proper alternative option if we can get him. I think it’s him, the usual suspects and Greenwood starting centrally more often.

Midfield should be priority after that.

Not sure on the implication of Cavani re-signing, I think they'd still go large on a Haaland or Kane if the opportunity presented itself, it would probably mean the rest of the team, stadium and training ground continue to go to rack and ruin though

It's so £#%&!ing frustrating, because the hope remains as you know if they really wanted to they could go out and spend £300m in a summer, so there's always a 'might' but it never materialises

They could recoup that sort of outlay with 3-4 successful years on the pitch and in Europe.

I don’t think it does. He’ll most likely stay and even if he doesn’t, Cavani is his replacement.

Four or five top, ready to go players and we’ll be able to challenge properly for the league. Instantly. We could get those for £300m.

We won’t though. Instead, the club will likely spend much more over a much longer period in an attempt to catch up with their own corner-cutting.

If this was a Fergie United, I think we’d be in for Kane in that sort of Rooney, Rio, Van Persia way where we KNOW they’d choose us. That’s not the case though anymore, unfortunately.

Kane could move to City and collect medals the same as the others do, or he could move to United and be the figure head of the revival of a true giant

I never liked him anyway

It’s great for fans to frame it that way, but most players don’t think in those terms. They don’t the challenge of trying to revive a giant. They want to win, earns loads and play with the best players and managers.

You might get the occasional outlier who sees the ‘tradition & history’ aspect of it, but most 20-something players with no allegiance to the club are going to remember City and Chelsea being ‘big clubs’ as much as us.
