He really is an excellent finisher. Him and Mata are the two most composed finishers when they get in. If he can show that hunger to get in the right areas like he did yesterday then he really can be as good and effective as anyone of that kind of player.

Our biggest weakness of course has been breaking down teams who sit deep, particularly at home where we've thrown a disgusting amount of points away in the last 6 years. The first thing that needs to be established if we are to make significant strides forward is for us to become a feared team in our own ground again.

Fernandes has given a different dimension to us going forward, someone who unpredictable, drops into good spaces, makes good runs and takes a good set-piece. Everything we've been crying out for.
Yep. Without wanting to generalise 7 years, we've largely been slow and predictable. We've never looked penetrating (giggidy) aside from spells of confidence during any time under Moyes, LVG or Jose.

It's been largely the same under Ole, but the longer he has his feet under the table, the more we're seeing the squad and style take shape.

The reason he has backing is because you can see what he is trying to do. He's been very clear about that from the start. He says it and tries to do it. It isnt fancy, but it doesn't need to be. Liverpool aren't exactly sophisticated but they're effective and devastating.

Often, it's just simple things: attacking in numbers, with pace, getting delivery early into the box. Look at the first two goals yesterday. Early cross fired in, goal. Second one, four players queuing up to score.

City do it. They are constantly looking to get to byline and they're queuing up. Alexander Arnold whipping balls in for liverpool.

Add in the quality over time like we have done with Bruno, getting Pogba back, playing to strengths of Martial and Rashford, adding Greenwood. AWB is improving his attacking play. Fred and The Scottish Player have improved.

And players that can't do it are gone: fellaini, Lukaku, Valencia, lingard looks done (thank £#%&!)

We're not there yet. We're still 3-4 players short and we're prone to bad lapses in concentration and drops in intensity, but this is the best we've looked under Ole and it'll feels like a group of lads you can actually get behind and want to see it all come to fruition.

I never wanted what Moyes and Jose were trying to do.

Lvg was a different story, but anyhoo...

For the first time in a long time the strongest 11 picks itself (Matic/Fred/McT depending on opposition type).

I can't recall post Fergie, looking at a line-up thinking yep 3-0 on here with such confidence.

It could all derail very quickly as the backup to Fernandes/Rashford are woeful. Still needs to be a push for a World Class winger and a proper no 10 backup as Matas legs are on borrowed time.

We should be winning all the remaining prem games if this team stays fit. Rotate in the cups

Been feeling this was all building nicely all season tbh. Bit of luck with injuries early doors (And a consistently competent penalty taker ) and top 4 wouldn’t have been a question imo. The confidence was undermined by inconsistency up top, Pogba missing for ages, Martial missing for 2 months, Rashford then dropping out.. all takes it’s toll and points to the lack of depth at that end. Need a proper right sided player (or someone that can play across the front) another number 9, another option for attacking midfield and to replace Pereira, Mata, Lingard and Matic with younger, more dynamic options. Reckon another 2/3 transfer windows tbh.

The atmosphere around the club and the team is what’s most promising for me, and I put that down mostly to Ole (obviously), McGuire and Fernandes. If they can get 10% more out of the rest then they paid their own fees and more.
