Was there with United for the Liverpool final only a couple of weeks apart. Right in the middle of the United end.
Brilliant era.

I was at England v Scotland in 1979. Four of us parked miles away and walked in, only to be greeted by loads of Jock fans climbing up scarves that had been knotted together and draped down the outside of the walls.
When we got in we were surrounded by lots of tartan and thought we were due a good kicking, but had a fabulous first half [due to them scoring first] and drank unlimited amounts of whisky that kept appearing in different hip flasks. It turned a bit quiet when 'am I blue or am I red' Barnes equalised on half time though
The season before we had travelled up to Hampden when Coppell scored late on to win the game for us. There were times when I truly thought that at 21 years old I was going to die - it was frightening. Mind you, it didn't help when one of our group [not me] asked in a chippy 'Got any saveloys?'
