Not surprising we’ve gone to an extreme here and are now saying he’ll sign for ANY club in the CL.

He’s at one of the biggest clubs in the world and in the CL. It’s an understandable reluctance when he’d be coveted by other teams, I’m sure.

‘Convincing’ someone shouldn’t have to mean begging them. The reality is we’re at our lowest ebb in 30 years. Players aren’t going to crawl to us like they used to. If we want top players, they’re probably going to need their arm twisting. Provided we’re not just throwing money at the problem like Di Maria, Sanchez etc, then I’ve got no issue with ETH selling the ‘project’ a little. We had the sell ourselves to him too and he didn’t arrive without questions.

This doesn’t feel like some mercenary coming here for a big pay day after they’re past their best. This is a player whose next move is going to dictate where he plays his prime years. Ofcourse he’s going to have reservations about not playing in the CL.

If these rumours about agreeing a fee with Barca are correct, you’d at least think we’d have some sort of encouragement from FDJ’s
Camp

We’re going places, but no CL football is going to be a big hurdle to overcome this summer. The best players want to play in the best competitions, not just for football reasons but also commercial ones.
Youre right man, but we have to accept our standing has taken a hit.

As Dr City says though, interesting we are close to agreeing a fee despite FDJs uncertainty. Would be class if this was announced next week.

If he doesn’t want to be here £#%&! him. Begging players to take pity on them is the Arsenal way.

Only just noticed that this lad is called 'Frenkie' and not 'Frankie'.

Most 'interesting' development in this 'saga' for me.

Getting spammed by 90% of the squad should convince him to join.

Music to our ears.

“Yeah, he doesn’t absolutely hate the idea quite as much as he did a few days ago, so well done there lads. If we work at this for a few weeks we could possibly have him down to completely indifferent about the move very soon”

His agent has explained to him the £’s involved and it has given him serious pause for thought.

Worst case, he can do a di Maria and force a move out after a year

We're a shit europa league team. Why this arrogance from you. Didnt Roy keane have to be convinced before plumping for us?

Ole is the reason our clubs status has sunk more than ever in the last few years. A complete laughing stock. Get used to the idea of players needing to be convinced to join us, rejecting us. We are in the second tier now.

We recouped 75% of the fee for Di Maria. There are far worse cases given Utd's recent history of absolute duds.

I don’t disagree. Still an example for the lad.

Just a passing jokey comment mate. I’ve posted thoughts on this on previous pages and basically agree with you.

Apology through DM or on this thread is fine.
