I actually frown on the early dec scene. Too early and you're looking at a desiccated tree by the 25th - heaven forfend what it will be like for Hogmanay. You don't want to go to early with Christmas! Probably need to be the 8th this year but that's a bit too early. 12th is optimum really.

My SiL (late 40s) is obsessed with Christmas.

I used to think she was slightly retarded but actually she bounces through life, never really giving a concern about anything.

Maybe it is the way to be.
