Default Van Gaal on Paul Merson - "this man is not normal"

Quote:
Louis van Gaal says Paul Merson is "not normal" after the Sky Sports pundit advised Liverpool to get out of the Champions League.

The former Arsenal midfielder believes this season represents Liverpool's best chance of winning the Premier League and that all their focus should be on it.

"Get out of that (the Champions League). Get out of it. Get out. Make history," Merson passionately told Sky Sports . "This club [has] not won the league in 29 years, get out of it.

"You're going to win the league for the first time in 29 years you don't realise how big this is in people's lifetimes.

"If they win and get through...more games for this time would be a nightmare."

And Merson's advice did not go down well with Louis van Gaal of all people.

"This man is not normal," scathed the former Manchester United boss. "Liverpool shouldn’t take his bad advice into consideration."

I don't think Merson is completely mad with this.

Imagine it was us, it's 1996 and we still haven't won the league but we have managed a Champions League win in the previous couple of years..

I'd be surprised if there would be many who would swap another Champions League for a league title in that scenario.

that period when we beat spurs, liverpool and city and it looked like we'd finally cracked it was the most (if not the only) enjoyable period of united post-fergie.

no idea how we turned to shit after that.

injuries.

we missed 4th spot by GD. 1 or 2 goals short of city.

He would have kept his job.

Real ones know

Shame that it's taken so long for a few to show the Big Man some love. Could have made all the difference back then and saved us Mou.
