Big props to this absolute top red. Deft chips at Highbury, winners on the kop and in Champions League semi-finals, almost scored a beaut at Newcastle, played all over the pitch for us and had a great chant too. Enjoy retirement big man.

Shame he stayed here a few seasons too long, but he's hardly unique in that since the "value" era began.

tis true.

The cool ones used to mock the irish support but I doubt we will be singing 20,000 empty seats when we will have attendances of 40 odd thousand in the europa league. We need a couple of irish players to keep the support steady

He waved at my kids when I overtook him on the M1 once. Always liked him after that. Thirty seconds later a Lancaster bomber swept over us very low.

That was a good day

Didn't realise his career was THAT long.

Anyway, squad player at best back in the day, but still 10 times the right back Ashley Young is, and a better left back than Shaw.

The support over here is as strong as ever. It's the playing side that's the concern. A strong United needs a strong Ireland.

Good to hear, I think we should play our home games for a season at Croker just so reds can appreciate our wonderful irish support
