Default Ryan Giggs

Must be really disappointed to watch this sort of football, given what he was brought up on.

Where's his influence? Considering this guy is supposed to be our next manager () I don't see anything in our play that indicates he has any influence.

The only straw I can grasp at is that he's giving LVG enough rope to hang himself, with the intention of swooping in with Valencia-Schneiderlin-Barkley-Young in 18 months and winning the crossing.

He looks bewildered. All he seems to do is sit in the dugout scratching his beard and ocassionally £#%&!s when the camera turns away.

Maybe this rubbish is all his idea and Van Gaal has to take the flak for it?

Anybody who wants him to get the job in the next couple of years is insane.

Why though, where is it written that you have to give a proven worldy manager the job or the clubs £#%&!ed? Ancelotti, Simeone or Pep will all tear up the squad and start again, the idea that they'll come in and simply build on LVG's apparently fantastic foundations is laughable,

Barcelona have been as successful as any club in world football the last 25 years appointing managers that this board would shit themselves at.

Because you don't put a person who has zero experience managing at any level into one of the biggest jobs in the world. We talked about Moyes' inexperience managing at this level, and he had been in charge of Everton for a decade; multiply that exponentially for Giggs. Being a great left winger for United does not qualify you to manage them.

Giggs position as assistant manager is a sop to 'continuity' and the United way [sic]. An LGV olive branch to the new Phil o sophy.Token red.

Would give him the job tomorrow. Why not? At least we might play some football

We don't have that type of quality, and Giggs has never yet made a single decision as the manager of any club. How do we know if he has the aptitude? We just gonna roll the dice? Why, because he's a legend? Wrong, wrong and wrong.

Giggs may go on to be the greatest manager of them all, but the chances are far far higher that he won't, not even close. We can't take that sort of chance in our situation.

Barca were not a settled team at all. During his first 12 months Pep bombed out Ronaldinho, Deco, Edmilson, Thuram, Zambrotta, Ezquerro, Sylvinho, Eto'o among others. Nobody had heard of Pedro or Busquets, while Xavi was not quite the player he became under Guardiola. Pique and Dani Alves also came in, later Mascherano and Villa. He transformed an ageing, complacent team.

But it is a useless comparison. Guardiola is a completely different type of character to Giggsy, who by his own admission is quite passive. Pep is an absolute nutcase. The bloke locks himself away in his office for hours every Friday night devising his tactics for the weekend's game. He's a one off, so any comparison is difficult, let alone one made on such flimsy ground as the Giggs one.

Tbh, if I was forced to chose a Co92 graduate to manager us it would be Neville over Giggs all day

Ok, maybe "settled" was the wrong term, but far more quality than we have right now.

Look, the thing is you need to be able to make a sound, unemotional, unbiased decision on the next manager based on a comprehensive review of their track record. Giggs doesn't have one. Accordingly we have no idea how he handles pressure, deals with disgruntled players, tactical range and flexibility and all the nuances that go into managing a big club, and cannot possibly make the proper analysis to judge. Effectively we would be tossing a coin and hoping for the best. You want that?

The aspect of this that few people seem to be considering is the real likelihood that we might have to fire a club legend after one year because we threw him into the deep end too early. That'll be pleasant. Wonder how the romantics will feel about that?
