I've actually liked the way Rio has handled himself this season, on and off the pitch. Not only is he consistant but he's tried hard to show that he cares about the fans and that in itself is admirable.

And the work he does with the goverment and the princes trust is worth his tuppance alone...and for that I'll excuse the fact that his TV show is complete shite and his favourite book is written by a scouser

rio has been a good man off the pitch.

hardly see him involved in any off the pitch incidents
was sitting with united fans at anfield.
always there for the kids from his community and seems to be giving back.

he has organised a concert with p diddy to promote peace in the community.
rio is funding the project.

Rio is simply world class. Sure, sometimes he'll lose concentration or do something sloppy, but 90% of the time playing that works for him, he is that good. He is breath taking at times.

i find it baffling that rio is hated by so much of our support on here.

over the last 4-5 years he has been our most consistant player imo.

Gotta agree with that.

True, the lad has had his faults over the last few years with the contract saga and the drugs test fiasco, but i do honestly believe that he's a nice fella and he does quite a bit for charity, as you have said.

Gets a lot of unfair stick, but if it weren't for him, we wouldn't be near the top of the table. He has been outstanding this season on the whole, and has been one of our most consistent players.

Those who judge the lad on a constant basis and say that he should be sold should take their heads out of the sand and realise that he's a top £#%&!ing defender.

The work Rio does in Southwark and elsewhere goes largely unnoticed. Others within the game would demand a lot more exposure for their off-field community work than Rio does.
