Remember getting to our seats for the Millwall game and they were already taken by some Reds who'd jibbed in. Top day

S2c Millwall fans going after lads and dads after the game though. @#%&!s.

25th May 1963. Wembley, London. - Manchester United 3 v Leicester City 1 - my first ever live match, age 5 years and 7/8ths.

On my 50th birthday, my darling wife bought me a special present of a framed commemorative shirt, a program and a picture of his first goal in this match, all signed by the King himself - it is in my hallway at this very moment and attracts frequent comment from workmen and drivers, as I now live 5 miles away from Leicester.
My wife is American and has no idea about football or its history and had no idea when she bought me the present about what it meant to me. Her reasoning was 'I saw it for sale and you always go on about Manchester United, so I thought you might like it'. I like to think in a 'karma' way that that is why I married her.

As an aside, only those who saw him live has any idea how insanely good he was. Many times he put George in the shade.

Number 6 - I never really knew that well as he left a couple of years after and wasn't really a 'name'.

Number 4 - was one of the best defensive midfielders ever, and the best 'guardian' George ever had - I forget the amount of times he 'had a word' with people trying to scythe him down. I got his autograph in 1968 with a 'there you go sonny boy'

Number 3 - I knew very well as he lived three doors down from me in Peterborough and we frequently had talks about the good old days as he worked his way through whatever booze was nearby. It takes a rare man to admit he is beaten in a drink capacity, but I was not in the same league as him. Funnily enough, I wasn't in the same league in playing skill either.
