Default Varane leaving this summer

Top class defender and I’m glad we got him, but an understandable change of direction. Can’t afford to be giving new bumper contracts to ageing stars

Another one of the walking wounded that plague our squad. Pity, plays quite well in the 10-15 games he makes it through.

Frees up wages and we need a quick young agile centre back.

Like Van de Ven - let's hope we have someone looking for that sort of talent.

He was a top class defender. I imagine everyone at the time was pretty happy to sign him (apart from bellers obvs), but a few people correctly said Madrid don't let top class players go without good reason.

He's played an average of 22 games a season. And I suspect he's one of those players that is currently 'injured' but could probably play. The massive fanny.

He understands defending and can pass. Sadly one of the few we have.

Have to say, I thought this signing would be better.

Bit of a sick note but never questioned his attitude or professionalism

Will miss his fist pumps

His unveiling before the Leeds game, looking a million dollars in that suit was one of the post Fergie high points

For someone in their late 20's i'd say it's not great.

A damning indictment of the last decade if ever there was one

Think this pretty much highlights how much you miss my point

That sounds very dramatic but ultimately they're just letting his contract run down
