Is this the corporate way of limiting their liability? Different parts from all over the shop, if one fails and the train crashes -go sue them guyz?

Wouldn't work like that. The prime contractor is ultimately responsible for any failure, it would be up to them to then chase their subcontractors for any losses.

I guess any particular deal could be structured differently, but what would be the point.

Yes I suppose Boeing chasing whoever manufactured the malfunctioning part would be the answer. Stops them from going bust. Strict liability, product liability and whatnot.

They are though. Predominantly for London commuters.
