They give you one of those Instagram frames to get your picture snapped with as well.

Basically carried up and down. What an achievement. Remember one story of a woman who arrived at base camp and asked what crampons were. Had genuinely never comes across them before.

He canít remember the first time at the summit. Said the lack of O2 had just wiped him out. Sherpa took a photo for him and then just took him down.

The last few bits of the climb are at a snailís pace. Have to adapt to conditions for ages or you fall ill. And thereís a queue.
Disneyfication of the tallest mountain in the world.

Next they'll be laying train tracks and motorways to the south pole.

Unrelenting progress.

went to base camp on the Tibetan side in 92 (according to the chaps there that is the harder side and far quieter than Nepalese route) Still loads of people knocking about tbh.

was told If you can pay USD10K (then) you can climb it, just need a reasonable level of fitness. as said, sherpered up and down

Far harder mountains out there apparently K2 etc

Some people are so desperate to add perceived validity to their pointless existence.

File alongside marathon runners in the oddball section.

God forbid ever being trapped in conversation with these sad sacks.

What's the alternative? Just do nothing but work?
I'd never run a marathon nor probably discuss marathon running with anyone who did, but at least they're doing something to challenge themselves.
