Now, all we see on the news is them legging it from Turks with knives because ISIS literally are welcomed with open arms.

IMO, Berlin has fallen again.

America fought off their Clinton...sadly Germany wasn't so strong.

Without term limits, Clinton would have beaten Bush, the Iraq war would not have happened and Tony Blair would either be in his 6th term as PM or President of a reformed EU. Brexit would not have happened and we'd still have a labour government. What's not to like ?

There is no term limits in the UK. Tony Blair chose to step down.

As I said, I've no problem with no term limits for parliamentary systems. The opposition are scrutinized as much as the government, we know who stands where and we have some impact over our party outside of elections. Not as much as we'd like but far more than the US and other nations.

In the US parties come together every four years. It obviously gives outsiders a chance. Forget Trump....forty years ago Jimmy Carter won the Presidency and his only experience in politics was four years as governor of the small state of Georgia where you could only serve one term at that time.

But who runs the opposition in a normal year? It's all chaotic and polarising. Term limits would just give the executive too much power. Change stimulates politics and everyday life ultimately.

After the war we binned Churchill. Good war time leader but not the man to lead the rebuild when he was fundamentally an imperialist.

Instead Clement Atlee gave us the NHS and social welfare introductions for the future.

Another "moderate" left wing party in Europe crashes and burns. You might even be crazy enough to see a pattern by now.
