Played him. Gave him enough Rope to hang himself, slowly phased him and has emphasised his importance and created a relaxed 'can stay or go' feeling ever since.

He got the record, won 2 trophies and his last act was to come on a sub in a major final and lead the team up to collect a trophy.

He leaves with dignity, to one of the few places he'll be happy to play after us, with the chance to enjoy a new lease of life and a happy last few years of his career

Feels like he's been gone for a while tbh. Glad it's official. He'll score a few goals at Everton but I'll be surprised if his performances are any better than they have been here. If Utd was the problem why has he been shit for England as well? It's not just motivation, it goes much further than that.

The only blight for me was the transfer request in 2010.
