Post Cheltenham Festival 2017

This time next month Rodney.....

Festival gets under way on March 14th; punters limited to four drinks per round after last year's antics.

Four weeks from now, Champion Day will be complete and wounds will have been licked.

Altior already a 1/3 favourite for the Arkle but it is a class above anything else in the race. You're essentially betting on it getting round. Free money then based on a sign up - 33/1 on Altior to win, max bet 1 :

Buveur D'Air is the early Champion Hurdle favourite, with Nicky Henderson's horse down to 3/1 after a hat trick of recent wins.

The other big race of the day sees Apple's Jade face up to two from the Mullins stable, with Vroum Vroum Mag joining Gordon Elliott's horse as favourite and Limini just behind, a clear third favourite.

92er's expected bet for the day:
Treble:
1:30 Melon
3:30 Buveur D'Air
4:10 Apples Jade

Ladies day on the 15th and the Neptune Hurdle starts us off. Finians Oscar and Neon Wolf head the betting in this one, with Bacardys looking a good each way punt, currently at 12s.

Second up is the RSA Chase with Nicky Henderson's Might Bite the clear favourite although Harry Fry's horse, American, has had its odds tumbling from 25s to the low teens.

The Coral Cup hurdle is a wide open affair, presumably with few horses having firmly committed to it; not a clear favourite and nothing less than 8s at the moment. A definite yes from a couple of horses will no doubt see prices tumbling. Ballyandy would be a decent punt now, if you can get a no-runner/no bet price.

What a race the Queen Mother Chase was last year, with Sprinter Sacre more than paying for my Cheltenham Festival bets, drinks and weekend celebration piss up. Douvan absolutely massive favourite at this, best to be had is 1/3! Altior is 5s and the rest are 10s and more.

The next up is the Cross Country and Cantlow gets the nod from both the bookies and me and is a clear 11/4 favourite. Probably the only chase I'll bet on this week.

The final race (bumper aside) is the Juvenile Hurdle, with the betting again quite open. Duca De Thaix leads the pack but there are plenty to go at and nothing that jumps out sufficiently to take a punt now.

92er's likely punt for the day:
Acca on Finians Oscar, Douvan, Might Bite and Cantlow
