We will be there or thereabouts provided the gap is no more than 5 or 6 pts over the new years period.

Still not given up on glory this season despite some tough moments, but theyre only moments. Last night is the biggest example of a potential springboard for a good a good run of wins in a row. Only need to win 4 or 5 league games in a row for the table to suddenly change dramatically. Even if we dont do that before new year, as long as we are in touch then thats fine.
Wellin up

The result against Chelsea was an outlier too; the sort of thing it's hard for any manager to legislate against. Not saying they wouldn't have won, but really, could Smalling have stacked the odds any higher against us? Gormless oaf.

In three seconds of madness he turned a nothing situation into a goal, got them firing on all cylinders and whipped the crowd into a frenzy, all before we'd had a kick.

Seems he's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.

He didn't have to say anything. Could have played it down with 'just another game'. He was happy to admit that his team selection was affected by the severity of Sunday's loss.

And the '4-0' gesture was a nice moment. He certainly didn't have to do that.

He could have cosy-ed up to fans at any point. After we lost the derby, after we lost 3 in a row, but I think he really felt Sunday.

It could just be that he's actually pleased for his players, pleased with and for the fans and, you know, actually cares about football and his job?

Since he's got here we've had ridiculous stories and even talk on here of how he's not smiling as much, how low-key he is. When he finally 'opens up' a bit, people say it's just PR

I think he was just very relieved, tbh - getting beaten by the other "big" clubs is something he has never taken very well. And when it was (AIUI) his heaviest ever loss as a manager.......
