You could see the lvg plan. It just didn't come off. On the rare occasions it did, it was the best we've played in years.

When it goes to plan with Jose, our individual players come up trumps.

We can and do play well under Mourinho, but the main aim is minimise errors and maximise reactions in opposition play.

Under lvg and any other mould like him, we look to dominate and take the game away.

We decided to ditch that though....and now we have a group of players spanning four managers with four different approaches.

Txiki Begiristain remember, had been at City since 2012. At what stage do you think he started recruiting players for Pep?
City gave Joe Hart a new long term contract a little over a year before announcing Guardiola.

The idea heís benefited from their preparing the squad for his arrival has always been a myth. Thatís what they should have been doing, but instead heís had to change pretty much 80% of the squad.

He's been more ruthless than Jose.

Style is set, the players need to fit.

Jose will look at the players, see who he can trust and make it work from there.

Both have their merits. No right or wrong. Comes down to preference. I prefer the first. Like seeing it unfold, prefer the end result.

Tbf when you have an unlimited budget then you can afford to be ruthless

Every other manager in the league, including Mou, have some sort of budget to stick to and can't rip up a squad after 18 months. They all have to work with what they've got to some degree

Guardiola on the other hand...

Yeah, good point about Hart, and you're right he has changed the squad radically, suggesting that there can't really have been any collusion and scheming when he was at Bayern.

Hmmm, you've killed my conspiracy theories dead and in doing so have made Guardiola's ascendancy seem even more superior.

Guardiola was always going to take over city at some point

The people building the squad in preparation for his arrival didn't exactly do the best job with building a defence is all.

Overplaying the pauper card there.

Yeah Pep has more resources but Jose has plenty too.

Chooses to sign Lukaku keep Fellaini and pick wingers as full backs.

If he sold more he could buy more
