Default Greyhound racing

Didn't realise until recently how much went on. Seems to be about 15-20 meets today each with a fair few races. Way more than horses anyway.

Obviously dogs are a lot cheaper than horses in every way but I don't understand how there is so much of this going on. Who goes? Where's all the money? The Betfair markets don't suggest it's that popular. Only some bookies even bother to price up and then it's usually only minutes before the race. Explain

Consider this a friendly warning. Don't go asking questions about this. You're out of your depth.

For your own sake just back off.

Most of the meetings are during the day to fill gaps between horse racing for betting shops. Very few people in attendance.

The first officially sanctioned meeting was in 1926 at Belle Vue.

Irk really wasn't kidding - somebody lock the thread.

Horse racing has been suffering recently, bookies shops now concentrate on FOBTs. Doesn't seem any need for all these races although possibly why they're not arsed about selling Wimbledon etc

If a dog is running behind other dogs on the back straight and he cant see the hare then all hes doing is chasing the other dogs so hes got no chance of winning?
One other thing ..
Why do the dogs not run to the outside of the track where the hare is speeding along?
