Wink

Just got Dead Cross off Apple Music. Fronted by Mike Patton, sounds pretty good.

Edit : better than pretty good. Album clocks in at around 27 mins. Lombardos drumming is ace as per, Pattons vocals on point.

Dead Cross are an American hardcore punk and heavy metal supergroup formed in Southern California. The band consists of guitarist Mike Crain (Retox), bassist Justin Pearson (the Locust, Head Wound City and Retox), drummer Dave Lombardo (ex-Slayer and Fantômas) and vocalist Mike Patton (Faith No More and Fantômas).

Justin was also in The Swing Kids and they were mint.

I listened to the DC record earlier, first impressions were good.

Night Demon - Darkness Remains
Obnoxious Youth - Disturbing the Graves
Pallbearer - Heartless
I find Southern Lord a bit hit and miss these days but that Power Trip record is f***ing awesome. New Baptists has just been recorded.

I need to go back to Heartless but I must be one of the few doom lovers who hasn't been blown away by the Pallbearer stuff.

No, but I've been told to check them out. It's a few with Dicko warbling away.

A mate caught one of the recent Today is the Day - Temple of the Morning Star shows over in the States recently. He said there are no words to describe, a somewhat religious experience and despite adding that (Steve) Austin was really approachable afterwards and friendly there was something about him which suggested don't mess. Erm, no shit pal.

I also see Mike is back out with EHG. Not sure how that'll work, he's still in recovery (I think) post liver transplant! New record recorded though.

Justin's thankfully keeping schtum. For now.

I'm finding it pretty difficult to get excited about a lot of the (heavier) releases this year. Can count on one hand those that I rate . Fingers crossed the IM record pays a respectful nod to the past but moves forward too. Bit of CoC in it from what I hear.

Oh, new Bell Witch record is supposedly a belter. Not sure if you're a fan? If not check out their debut (Longing). The track 'Beneath the Mast' is how you use a film sample in a song. Terrific stuff.
