We need right back cover and signing a prem tested player on a free while we use our £££ for other positions would be a good move IMO.

2 or 3 years of proper cover for Rafael, good enough to play if Rafael gets injured/doesn't return to the form of 2012/13. By the Time Sagna is 33/34 Rafeal will hopefully be in his prime with no more injuries and stupid mistakes and Varela will be ready to be back up and push Rafael.

Probably agent talk. The City link seems strange given Zabaleta's status. Expect he'll sign for PSG or something.

Had a think about this. Wouldn't be the worst decision we could make.

The free transfer is clearly the biggest point.

City are supposedly offering him 100k a week. At that price he isn't going to be cover.

Strange one given they have Zabaleta and now have to limit their wage bill and CL squad size.

Something that came out with City's FFP sanction was they bundled Mancinis pay off into the last accounts as player wages, so they have £30 million to play with + departures

Competiton or cover call it what you want.

Fact is if he came here he'd end up being first choice as Rafael is made of glass these days.

There's probably some kind of correlation between the frequency of his injuries and the regimental fitness training pushed by Moyes.

He was excellent in 2012/13, and relatively injury-free. His attacking mindset, youthful energy and solid technical ability will probably allow him to flourish under LvG.

Yep can't really disagree with that, although will the damage from Moyes be long lasting?

Having another international rightback as competition will only (hopefully) make Rafael better.

i think his glassness is genetic.

He is a midget twin, who clearly should've been a single 6ft 2 beast of a player....unfortunately they were split into two crippled imps.

Makes no sense. Zabaleta is of a similar standard, two years younger and loved by the fans. With the FFP developments it would be nuts.

Can the berts afford to let Richards go? He might be shit but he's their only home-growner in the entire squad.

(And he's an Arsenal fan from Leeds.)
