my old man died when i was 8, so only got my mum. she is the best mum you could wish for, always has been. 3 jobs to feed and clothe us when we were younger and she's great with the grandkids. love treating her to little holidays etc, she's an absolute star. love her to bits

My parents divorced when I was 7 or 8. Didn't see much of my old man for the first few years then saw nothing of him.
He rang me up, a few days before my 18th birthday & asked if I wanted to spend it with him & his wife at their place. I politely refused.
I got back in touch when I was in my 20's. I just find we have nothing in common & he's not the sort to make the 1st move. My sister now has a good relationship with him, but me ... well I just keep waiting for him to call/email me, as every other time it has been me instigating the contact.

Get on well with my step-dad, he's a very decent guy. I respect him a lot. Love my mum too, she's ace. Despite the split, I reckon I've been pretty f***ing lucky, had good parents & a good, normal upbringing. All my grandparents were f***ing brilliant too. So sad that all my grand-parents have all gone now. I miss them all.

There is only one persons fault I'm a f***ing screw-up & that's me.

mum died when I was 17 - was a good looking woman, a great mum to me, got on fine with her - I often think it was really sad that she never lived to meet her grandkids
