Families of Victor Obinna and Frederic Piquionne involved
'The club takes such matters seriously,' says West Ham

West Ham are investigating claims that the families of their players Victor Obinna and Frederic Piquionne were racially abused by spectators at the weekend during Saturday's 4-2 home defeat to the Premier League leaders Manchester United.

"The club takes such matters seriously and, with the police, is reviewing CCTV footage and gathering witness information. Anyone found responsible will be dealt with appropriately," read a club statement.

Reports have emerged that guests of the two strikers were involved in a confrontation with a small group of supporters during the game.

According to the reports, the families were racially abused while sitting in a box in the Main Stand.
