But I'm reliably informed that UEFA are only trying to stop Manchester City, and never mention clubs from other countries?

just to be clear, these aren't based on excessive spending/losses directly, just on non-settlement of payments due - not something chelsea/city/psg etc are likely to fall foul of. still, it's the first little test of whether punishments can be levied via the ffp rules that have been agreed so it is a kind of test.

It's a complete farce. I expect to see more than a few record breaking shirt deals in the next year

AFP reports that the as yet unnamed financial institution could replace Emirates as PSG's main shirt sponsor, with the existing commercial deal generating only 3.5m euros per season.

However, the possible new deal, disclosed to AFP by sources within the French football authorities, could net the Ligue 1 side up to 400m euros over four seasons.

Such a commercial deal would leave PSG far better equipped to conform with UEFA's Financial Fair Play regulations which are designed to ensure that clubs do not spend more than they earn.

PSG have spent an estimated 250m euros on transfers since being taken over by Qatar Sports Investments in the summer of 2011 and it appears at present that they will struggle to fit within UEFA's guidelines.

Bringing in 100m euros per season would be a great assistance in this regard, though UEFA has said that any such contracts will have to pass a "fair value" test ensuring that rich owners cannot simply bypass FFP with deals that far exceed market value.

AFP also reports that prospective investors are seeking to attach their name to the Parc des Princes stadium in some way.

In a statement to the news agency, PSG said they had "no comment to make on any contract ... we will give details about our contracts as and when they're signed".

PSG currently have a sponsorship deal with Qatar National Bank that gives the company brand placement at Parc des Princes and on the club's website

PSG secure new commercial agreement

Paris Saint-Germain have clinched a massive deal with the Qatar Tourism Authority that will bring the Ligue 1 leaders more than €150 million over each of the next four seasons.

Retroactive for 2012, it will boost PSG's coffers by €150 million for the current campaign, increasing progressively to a minimum of €200 million in its final season, 2015-2016. That sum could be even larger, with the contract containing bonus clauses based on the team's performances in European competition.

Well, isn't that convenient

Meanwhile, over at City:

Commercial income rose 102% to £109.4m in 2011/12 with 89% of this coming from the club's commercial partners. To put these numbers into context, United's total Commercial income in 2011/12 was only £8m higher than City's and (whilst definitions vary slightly) it looks to me that City's non-kit partner revenue was higher than United's.

I will leave it to readers to decide for themselves whether City would have managed to get to almost £100m of partnership revenues if they hadn't been owned by a member of the Abu Dhabi royal family. Perhaps Etihad, TCA Abu Dhabi, aabar and Etisalat would have all signed up as City's sponsors if Thaksin Shinawatra or even Franny Lee was the owner.....

Milan may be arab owned in the not too distant future, Emirates are already their largest sponser. Barcelona are sponsored by Qatar. Al-Jazeera pays huge sums to broadcast Champions League and various European domestic leagues, now in France as well as the Middle East. Yank owners like ours couldn't give a £#%&! as long as they get paid and Platini's all up in their ass.

Maybe not that drastic but the proper clubs of Europe should do something to shit UEFA up.
