Good squad player

If more players in our squad had Lingard and Ashley Young's mentality we would be a winning machine

um.... is the answer "lingard plays"? the alternative to using squad players under these circumstances would be to send out 8 men.

Messi Lingard

One of the few players who can be arsed running off the ball. Not so good vs bus Parkers but stretches defences. Currently an upgrade on Mikki.

Talking of unpopular players, Fellaini, along with Poggers and Matic vs Arse and Berts.

If good squad player means playing well once every ten games then yes, he's a good squad player

He'll never be good enough to be first choice but very useful squad player

Not a player you can restrict to playing on the wing as he needs a bit of freedom to exploit his best attribute which is his movement

Watching him when he was coming through in the reserves he definitely has a bigger goal threat than he's shown so far

Fair £#%&!s to the little goblin. He's always good to the odd pearler, but he actually played well in that role too last night.

This is what we need - players seizing their chance.

If he can do it on a consistent basis and nail down that spot, then good on him.

But he won't. He'll play like his usual self again for the next two months until he has a good game against Stoke and someone starts a thread saying how good a squad player he is.

I suspect so yeah.

I'm very 'meh' about him. I think we've had much worse players, bigger shithouses and bigger problems down the years. He's ok. Nothing more. If he can become more on a consistent basis then great, and moments like last night are always a buzz. He's got some great goals to his name and that's something.

Correct.

He's an ok squad player who works hard and who occasionally pulls one out of the bag. Can't beat a bit of OTT revisionism.... apologies ffs

Shouldn't be anywhere near the first team on a regular basis, obvs

He's much better away from home.

His movement and energy are his best assets.

At home, where teams play a bit deeper, he should be behind Mickey, Mata and Martial/Rashford either flank.
