Rooney is worth more to United than the transfer fee we'd get for him, that's the essence of it
unless one party or the other wants a change he'll stay. money won't be a factor - although any hint of a £50m bid would change that cus it's just silly money. RvP was £24m, so that's the value, roughly. |

"World Class" is branded around for too easily these days. Only two players in the world who would walk into any team and that's Messi & Ronaldo, they are World Class.
Rooney isn't in that same bracket for various reasons, neither is Bale, Suarez, van Persie, Ibrahimovic etc. But he does offer us something, but how much do you value that? |

Agreed. It's astonishing how much people underestimate his importance to the side. He's absolutely key to any silverware we might get in a couple of months time. The same people that want him sold are the same bores who hang off Ronaldo's #@&%! - despite Ronaldo begging Fergie to let him leave during his last 2 years at United (oh but he still loves us...honestly he does) It's embarrassing. As you say, the Champ Manager crew who get their scouting tips from a video game where they pretend to be the manager of a Football team ycnmiu Sell Rooney & bring in some Bundesliga flavour of the month who won't get anywhere near Rooney's goal record never mind have Rooney's talismanic qualities against our main rivals. |

On his day he's obviously a special player and you wouldn't want to lose him, but the idea that he's irreplaceable has been undermined a little by van Persie's impact. And by the fact that he's started just over half the games this season and we're 12 points clear at the top. |

The curious case of Wayne Rooney... (not just because getting a weave has made him look younger the older he's got).
He's less exciting, less explosive, less inventive & less pacey than when he arrived. In fact all of those attributes appear to have waned as the seasons have gone by - conversely his effectiveness & our reliance upon his goals in the big games especially has gone up (unless it's a penalty, he appears to have become more shit at those as well). He was always sacrificed by Fergie in the big games to do a job, so that's not gone from him armoury, but his physicality won't stand up to someone like Giggs, or even Scholes in the long run - his touch is getting worse & his 'vision' appears restricted to a sub-standard Scholes impressionist who can only ping it wide (right) when Valencia is there. We're a worse side when he is out of the team, expensive alternatives don't shine in his absence (Kagawa) even when played in their preferred role... I believe the side is ingrained in Rooney's image these days. Less about great football, more about finishing the season with 35 goals / a trophy. I'd rather watch Ronaldo doing both, but he didn't want to stay - Rooney acted the @#%&! & got his £250k p/w, but is he really worth it when his influence is to make us a less attractive side (albeit a more gutsy one that will win) ? |
