Pretty much agree with that but I think Valencia will get the heads up over Park or Giggs

he's injured though, I know it's an easy group...but so was Lille a few years ago... but this will be our hardest game and don't want to lose to them again

No idea tbh.

Fergie said there would be loads of changes.

I suspect Valencia will be back, and surely Berbatov will get a game.

Fergie reveals young guns to be rested in Champions League tie against Benfica

Quote:
Sir Alex Ferguson will take his Manchester United kids out of the firing line this week to avoid another Champions League disaster against Benfica.
Ferguson has not forgotten that a young side containing rookies Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney crashed out 2-1 at Benfica's Stadium of Light in 2005.

On Wednesday, Ferguson is likely to turn to senior stars Darren Fletcher and Ryan Giggs at the expense of youngsters like Phil Jones.

Ferguson said: 'Experience is important and that's why my team might be different in Lisbon. Benfica-United has a ring to it because of the history. But it's an important game in its own right. Whoever wins gets a valuable headstart in the group.

'There's no doubt the younger players will get good experience in the Champions League this season, but the important thing is to qualify.

'The home games will be better for them. Our first home tie is against Basel and the young players are capable of playing in that kind of match.

'But Benfica away is one you have to respect. They will be a handful. We always expect a difficult game there. They operate with three midfield players and we will have to look at that, as it will be the hardest part for us.

Ferguson's side, last season's runners-up to Barcelona, were among the top seeds for this year's group stages and are heavily fancied to qualify from a group also containing Otelul Galati, of Romania.

It could be that United's biggest concern is their visit to Bucharest on October 18, five days before the Manchester derby.

The pitch in Bucharest, which cuts up, was reported to UEFA by World Cup final referee Howard Webb after he officiated a Euro 2012 qualifier between Romania and France last week.

Ferguson revealed his defender Patrice Evra, who played in that game, said it was an 'absolutely terrible pitch'.

The manager added: 'He said it was dangerous.'

As has been pointed out elsewhere, United's Carling cup team/team used when resting players is going to be full of senior players at the moment

We'll probs be going 4-3-3 then.

Carrick, Giggs and Fletch in midfield.

Valencia and Park supporting a striker as the front three.

Yep read the mail as well today and fergie feels this will be the hardest game of the group so he doesnt want to be playing catch up. I am sure he will play for a draw which may mean a five man midfield.

I doubt if evans will play as he has a dead leg.

i'd say this is the first time we'd all agree that we can now make 11 changes and still put out a strong enough team to qualify.

i know it says a lot about how £#%&! the CL group stages are (and have been for a long time) but still i think it's the first time where people won't moan about 11 changes
