It was obvious from the day he arrived what it meant to him, yes. And whilst there might have been moments when circumstances led to that passion being brought into question, overall there's no doubt that he loved the club.
Compare it to a marriage, if you will: just because a husband threatens to walk out on his Mrs before a big event, sues an old family friend or stays with her even though she's run up a huge credit card bill, doesn't mean he no longer loves her. Nobody's perfect, but Ferguson as manager of Utd was as close to perfection as we could ever have hoped for.

So both you and Jem honestly think the banks wouldn't have lent the Glazers the money had it not been for who was managing us at the particular point in time? He was in his mid-sixties, FFS, had just had heart problems and had already announced,
four years prior to the takeover, that he was going to retire. To say 'it's not debatable' that they would have been refused the money were it not for Ferguson staying on, is therefore nonsensical. Of course the banks/lenders knew Ferguson wasn't going to stay on as manager for very long after the takeover and we (and they) were extremely lucky that he lasted as long as he did.

In danger of what exactly - going bankrupt? Not winning any more trophies?? The Glazers got the finance because the lenders had faith in their ability to recruit new talent (amongst many other things) - I'm not for a second suggesting I supported such a decision, but clearly they
were trusted in that department by those that mattered (the lenders) and it had to have been part of the business plan that was signed off on.

Of course paymasters will b***h and moan about having to fork out cash - doesn't mean Fergie shouldn't have asked for more or had the right to look after his own family as best he could (nepotism aside). Neither is it any indication that he didn't love the club.
